With the establishment of the REVOX WORLD FOUNDATION, the history of Revox and Studer is being built on a new foundation. The foundation, which was notarized in June 2026, is intended to permanently preserve and maintain the world’s largest collection of Revox and Studer equipment and make it accessible to the public.
The exhibition will be held at the existing REVOX WORLD in Dietikon, in the canton of Zurich. There, an experience center spanning over 1,000 square meters brings together more than 75 years of audio history with sound culture, technical innovation, and fully functional classics from the world of professional and high-end consumer audio technology.
From the Private Studer Revox Museum to the Foundation
At the heart of the new foundation is Walter Stutz’s former private collection, the Studer Revox Museum. It has now been transferred to the REVOX WORLD FOUNDATION with the goal of historical preservation and conservation. As a result, approximately 800 devices, as well as numerous documents, files, photos, measuring instruments, and prototypes, have been transferred to the foundation.
The nonprofit foundation is governed by an appointed board of trustees. Its mission is to ensure the long-term preservation of the collection, make it accessible for scholarly and cultural purposes, and preserve the technical legacy of Revox and Studer for future generations.
Revox and Studer: Swiss Audio History Since 1948
The Studer and Revox brands are among the biggest names in audio technology. Since 1948, their tape recorders, studio equipment, and playback systems have been a staple in radio stations, recording studios, and high-end hi-fi setups around the world. Many of the devices on display were used not only for personal music enjoyment but also for professional applications—including at radio stations, recording studios, and during broadcasts from the Swiss Parliament.
At REVOX WORLD, this history isn’t just presented in a static way. A large portion of the classic exhibits are in working condition and can be experienced during live demonstrations. This makes it more than just a museum in the traditional sense: Visitors can understand why Studer and Revox continue to enjoy a special reputation among sound engineers, collectors, and hi-fi enthusiasts to this day.
Experience Center for Sound Culture and the History of Technology
In addition to historic tape machines, tape recorders, and studio equipment, REVOX WORLD also showcases the latest premium audio systems, turntables, speakers, and modern Revox products. The exhibition thus spans the spectrum from the iconic machines of the early years to today’s solutions for high-quality music playback.
The REVOX WORLD FOUNDATION sees itself not merely as the custodian of a collection. It also aims to promote cultural exchange, share knowledge about audio technology, and inspire enthusiasm for music, mechanics, and engineering.
