Revox STUDIOMASTER CD100: New high-end CD player for the multiuser world

While many manufacturers focus almost exclusively on streaming, Revox is sticking with a medium that still hasn’t lost any of its fascination for many music lovers: the compact disc. With the new STUDIOMASTER CD100, the company based in Germany and Switzerland is presenting a CD player developed specifically for high-quality hi-fi systems, integrating classic silver discs seamlessly into the modern Revox system world.

CD player for STUDIOMASTER M300 and M500

The new CD100 was developed specifically to pair with the Revox STUDIOMASTER M300 and M500 components. Revox is taking an unusually convenient approach: integration is almost fully automatic via a newly developed control port cable. The CD player connects to the amplifier via a digital coaxial link for music transmission, plus an additional data connection for control.

Once connected, the system automatically detects the CD100, configures the required settings on its own, and integrates the player into the user interface. The corresponding input is automatically renamed and assigned the appropriate icon.

Control directly via app and front display

Operation is especially convenient when used with the Revox Multiuser system. As soon as the user selects the CD input, the CD100 switches on automatically. The inserted CD is read and the available tracks appear directly in the app. Playback status, elapsed time or error messages are also shown both in the app and on the display of the connected Revox components.

When switching to another source, the CD player automatically powers down again. This makes the device almost as convenient as modern streaming components.

Burr-Brown DAC and classic hi-fi engineering

Technically, Revox relies on proven components. Inside is a Burr-Brown PCM1796 digital-to-analog converter. Supported formats include audio CDs as well as self-burned CD-Rs. Coaxial and optical outputs are available for digital connections.
Frequency response ranges from 5 Hz to 20 kHz, with a signal-to-noise ratio of over 110 dB. A CLV mechanism is used for the transport.

With dimensions of 200 x 88 x 342 mm and a weight of three kilograms, the CD100 fits visually and technically into the existing STUDIOMASTER series. The device is available in black, white and silver.

Also suitable for older Revox systems

In addition to integration into the current Multiuser 3.0 platform, Revox also offers compatibility with older network receivers. According to the manufacturer, the CD100 can still be operated with the Joy S119 and Joy S120 MKII models via the existing CD-Link interface.

Revox is also launching a new control port connection cable. This makes it possible to integrate existing Joy S22 CD players into the current STUDIOMASTER environment and use them with Multiuser 3.0 as well.

Prices and availability

The Revox STUDIOMASTER CD100 is available now in black, white and silver. The recommended retail price is €1,895.

The new Revox control port CD player connection cable for integrating existing Joy S22 CD players costs €495.
