With the Velodyne Acoustics 1824, Velodyne Acoustics announces an extraordinary statement for uncompromising deep bass. Even before its official presentation, the new reference subwoofer is attracting attention with its key specifications: 18-inch and 24-inch drivers in a shared enclosure, 6,000 watts RMS power, and low-frequency extension down to 7 Hertz.

The official premiere will take place at High End Vienna 2026.

18 Inches plus 24 Inches in One Enclosure

The name “1824” already describes the unusual concept of this exceptional new subwoofer. Velodyne combines an 18-inch and a 24-inch transducer in a single enclosure. Three power amplifiers together deliver 6,000 watts RMS and up to 10,000 watts peak power.

Despite the brutal performance data, Velodyne explicitly emphasizes that the 1824 is not intended as a mere volume machine. Instead of maximum loudness at any cost, the focus is on controlled, precise, and extremely deep bass. According to the manufacturer, the project arose from the ambition to bundle four decades of subwoofer manufacturing experience into an uncompromising reference model.

350 Kilograms – But Transportable

Weighing around 350 kilograms, the 1824 clearly falls outside typical HiFi dimensions. Nevertheless, Velodyne aims to have designed the system to be as practical as possible. The manufacturer integrates carrying handles into the enclosure and supplies special roll-lifters for transport and setup.

Inside, a new generation of electronics works, including app-based calibration. This allows the exceptional subwoofer to be precisely adapted to the room, speakers, and personal sound preferences.

Limited High-End Edition with Nameplate

The Velodyne Acoustics 1824 will be limited to just 50 units worldwide. According to Velodyne, each model will receive an individual plaque with the owner’s name.

Thus, the 1824 positions itself less as a classic series product and more as a technical prestige project and collector’s item for uncompromising home cinema and high-end enthusiasts.

Premiere at High End Vienna 2026

The new reference subwoofer will celebrate its official world premiere at High End Vienna 2026 at the Audio Reference booth. There, Velodyne plans to present all technical details and the complete design for the first time.

It will be particularly exciting to see whether the gigantic 1824 actually achieves not only maximum levels but also the precision and control for which Velodyne has been known for decades.
