With the WiConnect System 2, Velodyne Acoustics is launching a compact solution for wirelessly integrating subwoofers such as the MiniVee X(click here for our review) and speakers into existing hi-fi or home theater setups. The aim is to reduce cable clutter while maintaining the same sound quality – and to offer more flexibility in terms of placement in the living room.

High-quality transmission without delay

The system operates in the 5.8 GHz frequency band and transmits audio signals at 48 kHz / 24 bit – i.e. above CD quality. The entire audible frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz is transmitted loss-free via stereo RCA. This makes the WiConnect System 2 suitable not only for subwoofers, but also for wirelessly connected rear speakers or surround loudspeakers.
In contrast to Bluetooth or WLAN solutions, Velodyne promises a delay-free signal transmission without compression – a plus point for movie sound and gaming, where every millisecond counts.

Flexibility due to long range

With a range of around 30 meters, the system can also be used in larger rooms or open living environments. One transmitter can control up to four receivers simultaneously, allowing several subwoofers or speakers to be integrated in parallel. The compact housing – 90 × 32 × 90 mm (W × H × D) – can be discreetly accommodated in any system.

Power supply via USB

Both the transmitter and receiver are supplied with power via USB (5 V, 1 A). Many of Velodyne’s current subwoofers and numerous AV receivers already have USB connections, which means that in many cases a separate power supply unit is not required. This makes for a particularly tidy setup.
Whether in classic stereo mode or for LFE signals in the home cinema – the WiConnect System 2 opens up more freedom in terms of placement and supports clean sound reproduction without visible cable runs.

Price and availability

The Velodyne Acoustics WiConnect System 2 will be available from October 2025. The recommended retail price is 349 euros.
