With the new Debut Reference 10, Pro-Ject Audio Systems is launching a model that takes the popular Debut series to a new level. Handmade in Europe, the turntable combines classic hi-fi virtues with modern technology. From the acoustically optimized motor suspension to the newly developed carbon-aluminium tonearm.

New hybrid tonearm and high-quality materials

At the heart of the Debut Reference 10 is the 10-inch tonearm in hybrid construction made of carbon and aluminum. The outer carbon layer ensures maximum rigidity and precise tracking, while the inner aluminum tube effectively dampens resonances. The result is a stable, low-distortion reproduction with a high level of detail.

The newly designed bearing block made of solid aluminum with a 2-point bearing provides additional precision. The TPE-damped counterweight and an adaptive anti-skating mechanism round off the mechanism.

Acrylic plate and optimized decoupling

The new 300 mm acrylic platter replaces conventional metal solutions and can be used directly as a support surface. The material has similar resonance characteristics to vinyl, which makes for a more natural sound. The diamond-cut aluminum sub-platter increases inertia and improves rotational stability.

Thanks to the electronic speed changeover (33/45 rpm, 78 rpm with additional belt) and precise motor control, the belt drive runs particularly smoothly. The new motor suspension effectively decouples the drive from the chassis and thus minimizes vibrations. Three height-adjustable, TPE-damped metal feet ensure stability and optimum insulation.

True Balanced output and new Pick it PRO Balanced

Pro-Ject supplies the Debut Reference 10 with the Pick it PRO Balanced MM cartridge as standard. This cartridge was developed in cooperation with Ortofon. The signal can be transmitted to compatible phono preamps (such as Phono Box S3 B or DS3 B Tube) via the balanced mini XLR output with low interference and without loss.

Design, production and equipment

The hand-lacquered MDF housing (eight layers of lacquer) conveys classic quality. CNC-milled, diamond-cut aluminum parts, an acrylic dust cover and the Record Puck E are standard features.

Technical highlights at a glance:

  • 10″ carbon-aluminum tonearm, VTA & azimuth adjustable
  • Electronic speed changeover 33/45/78 rpm
  • Acrylic plate (300 mm), aluminum sub-plate
  • Pick it PRO Balanced MM cartridge
  • Balanced mini XLR phono output
  • Signal-to-noise ratio: 68 dB
  • Dimensions: 462 × 145 × 345 mm (W×H×D), weight: 6 kg

Price and availability

The Pro-Ject Debut Reference 10 is now available in several matt color variants.
Recommended retail price: 1,199 euros.
