A portable speaker with colored lights doesn’t necessarily have to look like a party gadget. That’s why the new Loewe neo combines an LED light bar and app control with an aluminum housing, a leather strap, and a hefty price tag of 400 euros. A total output of 50 watts and two passive bass radiators are designed to deliver the sound.
Loewe positions the neo as a compact, premium speaker for use in the living room as well as outdoors. With an IP67 rating, interchangeable speaker grilles, and a felt hard case, it’s designed to bridge the gap between a design statement and a portable companion.
Loewe neo features an aluminum body and 50 watts
The Loewe neo’s enclosure is made of aluminum and is available in aluminum silver, aluminum black, and champagne finishes. The champagne version is set to be released in limited quantities. The company has not yet disclosed how many units it plans to offer.
Acoustically, this compact active speaker delivers a total of 50 watts of power. Two passive bass radiators are designed to give the low frequencies more volume and depth. Loewe has not yet provided further details on the speaker’s configuration: neither the number and size of the active drivers, nor the frequency range, maximum sound pressure level, or the exact distribution of the amplifier power are known.
This alone isn’t enough to make a reliable assessment of its sound performance. After all, wattage alone says little about how deep, balanced, or loud a compact speaker actually sounds. What’s particularly interesting is whether Loewe can keep the bass stable at higher volumes or if the protection limiter has to kick in early.
Lighting and sound can be customized via the app
An integrated LED light strip adds a visual element to the Loewe neo. According to the manufacturer, users can choose from soft, warm tones as well as more vibrant colors. The lighting can be adjusted to suit the room, the occasion, and personal preferences.
Users can configure both lighting and sound using the accompanying app. Loewe mentions three sound presets as well as individual control of bass and treble. The announcement does not yet specify which app is required or whether it will be available for both Android and iOS.
There is a touch control panel right on the speaker. The press release also states that it is used to adjust bass and treble, but does not explain how this is done without a display. Possible options include step-by-step adjustments or accessing presets; the exact control logic remains unclear for now.
IP67-Rated for Outdoor Use
With an IP67 rating, the Loewe neo is fully protected against dust and, under standardized conditions, also against temporary submersion. This is more precise than the commonly used term “waterproof,” which can easily suggest unrestricted use in water.
A detachable leather strap makes it easier to carry. It also comes with a high-quality felt hard case, though Loewe has not yet clearly stated whether it is included as standard. It also remains unclear which versions of the interchangeable speaker covers will be offered and whether additional covers will be available separately.

Technical specifications remain unknown
Some key details are missing, especially for a portable speaker. So far, Loewe has not disclosed the battery life, charging time, dimensions, or weight. It also remains unclear which wireless standard is used to stream music. While Bluetooth would be the obvious choice for such a product, it is not explicitly mentioned in the press release. Accordingly, there is also no information on the Bluetooth version, audio codecs, or the ability to pair two or more speakers together.
Our review of the We. by Loewe We. HEAR 2 already demonstrated that Loewe is capable of building portable speakers that meet hi-fi standards. It impressed us with its balanced sound, surprisingly deep bass, and good dynamics. However, the new neo isn’t being launched under the younger We. by Loewe brand, but rather under the core premium brand. Aluminum construction, lighting controls, and the significantly higher price underscore this positioning.
Price and Availability of the Loewe neo
The Loewe neo is expected to cost 400 euros and will be available in aluminum silver, aluminum black, and champagne. According to Loewe, pre-orders will be accepted starting November 20, 2026. The company has not yet announced a specific delivery or launch date. The “neo champagne” model has been announced as a limited edition.
Loewe is expected to provide the remaining technical specifications by the time orders open. Only then will it be possible to assess whether the neo lives up to true premium standards not only in terms of design, lighting, and material quality, but also in terms of battery life and connectivity.
