Once again, it’s clear that CDs—which many had written off—are here to stay. With the DP11, FiiO is launching a compact CD player that not only plays CDs in both analog and digital formats but also copies them to a USB flash drive as WAV files without needing a computer. In addition, the FiiO DP11 can be used as a hi-res DAC for PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD256.
FiiO continues its retro push. Following in the footsteps of mobile cassette players and portable CD players, the new DP11 is aimed at hi-fi enthusiasts who want to start using their disc collection more often or add a CD drive to a modern system. At 21.3 centimeters wide, the device is suitable for both compact desktop systems and as a source component for a classic stereo system.
CDs Enjoying a Second Spring
The timing of the launch seems well-chosen. According to market data cited by FiiO, revenue from CD sales in the U.S. rose by 58 percent in the first half of 2026. Unit sales also increased by 45 percent, according to the data.
In addition to newly purchased albums, existing collections are also likely to play an important role. This is exactly where the DP11 comes in: It is designed to combine the ease of use of old and new CDs with modern digital technology.

Ripping CDs Without a Computer
One of the most interesting features is the ability to copy audio CDs directly to a USB flash drive. No computer is required for this. The FiiO DP11 saves the tracks losslessly in WAV format.
This feature is limited to standard CDDA audio discs. The USB flash drive used must be formatted with FAT32 and, according to FiiO, must have a maximum storage capacity of 32 gigabytes. A second USB port is intended for firmware updates.
For the drive, FiiO relies on a custom-designed tray mechanism with optimized servo firmware and a low-noise bearing system. A 3.71-inch LC display with a retro look shows track information and playback status. The included infrared remote control handles track selection and drive control, among other functions.
From CD Player to Hi-Res DAC
For digital-to-analog conversion, FiiO uses a CS43198 from Cirrus Logic. Via the USB input, the DP11 processes PCM signals up to 32-bit and 384 kilohertz, as well as native DSD256. This allows the compact device to serve as an external high-resolution DAC independently of the CD drive.
Two femto-clock generators with exceptionally low phase noise are designed to ensure precise timing. In addition, FiiO physically separates the areas for the CD servo, digital signal processing, and analog circuitry on the circuit boards. Two separate power supplies are designed to further reduce mutual interference.
For the analog RCA output, the manufacturer specifies an output level of 2.2 volts, a signal-to-noise ratio of at least 109 decibels, and a dynamic range of 109 decibels as well. The total harmonic distortion, including noise, is said to be less than 0.0014 percent in CD mode and less than 0.00068 percent during USB playback.
Output in All Directions
In addition to the analog stereo output, the FiiO DP11 offers three digital connection options. AES/EBU via XLR and the coaxial RCA output transmit signals at up to 24-bit/192 kilohertz. The optical output supports a maximum of 24-bit/96 kHz.
This allows the DP11 to be paired with, among other things, active speakers, a stereo amplifier, or an external D/A converter. The player can also pass through MQA CD bitstreams without modification. However, a compatible external decoder is required for actual MQA decoding.
FiiO DP11: Price and Availability
The metal enclosure, measuring 213 x 230 x 67 millimeters, weighs approximately 1.8 kilograms. Power is supplied either via the built-in switching power supply or via an external 12-volt power supply with at least 2 amps. This also allows for the use of a suitable linear power supply.
The FiiO DP11 is set to launch in October 2026 at a price of 184.99 euros. The package includes an infrared remote control, a USB-C-to-USB-C data cable, and the power cord. At the same time, FiiO is announcing a modular hi-fi rack for its compact components.
