Why does JBL call it a ´racetrack driver´?

The oval shape of the low-midrange driver of the JBL Flip 6 is reminiscent of the typical high-speed ovals of Indianapolis or Daytona, where the American stock car races take place.

Which colours are available?

The 6th gen JBL is currently available in black, red, blue or gray. However, the latter three are currently not available in all countries.

How to use the equalizer the most effectly?

If you simply turn up the bass control of the 3-band equalizer integrated into the JBL Portable app, as some listeners prefer it with huge party speakers, you wont get the desired bass boost even at normal SPL. That’s because of the JBL Flip 6’s DSP, which automatically applies a limiter on low frequencies. This is to prevent the system from distortion and damage. A better way to emphasize the bass is to reduce the midrange leven, as shown in the screenshot.

Answering phone calls with the JBL Flip 6: Is that possible?

No, the microphone known from the JBL Flip 5 is no longer a part of the concet. Therefore, the voice assistant of the smartphone or tablet cannot be activated via the Bluetooth speaker either.

Can I connect analogue audio devices to the 6th generation Flip?

No, the analogue AUX input with a 3.5 mm mini jack was already omitted in the Flip 5 predecessor.

What is the biggest innovation of the gen 6?

Without any doubt its fully active 2-way x-over concept with two separate power amplifiers for the low/mid driver and the new tweeter dome. Thus, the JBL bestseller not just outperforms its predecessors and competitors with more transparent and differentiated treble. It also does not suffer anymore from a narrower sound directivity pattern such as the flip 5. In the predecessor, the so-called racetrack driver was operating fullrange and therefore limiting the sweet-spot significantly.

Where can I compare the Flip 6 imm detail with the predecessor?

Stereo Guide has tested both the JBL Flip 5 and its successor. Here you can find the Test of the JBL Flip 6 and you find the JBL Flip 5.
