With the Replay, Rega is introducing a new turntable for vinyl beginners and music lovers who want to get started without complicated setup. Handcrafted in the UK, this belt-driven turntable combines a lightweight skeleton chassis with the RB110 tonearm and a factory-fitted Rega Carbon cartridge. The price is 349 euros.
According to the German distributor TAD, more than three years of development work went into the new model. Rega has focused on making setup as simple as possible and drawing on over five decades of experience in turntable manufacturing. According to the manufacturer, it takes less than a minute from unboxing to being ready to play.
Put it on instead of giving up
The Rega Carbon is already assembled and adjusted. The MM cartridge features a replaceable stylus. Rega has also reduced the setup effort for the RB110: the anti-skating compensation is preset at the factory. To set it up, slide the included 111-gram counterweight onto the back of the tonearm until it stops. The usual need to balance the arm is eliminated with this standard configuration. rega.co.uk
To connect to the system, the Replay requires an MM phono input or a separate phono preamp. It does not come equipped with a built-in phono stage. Its “plug-and-play” concept therefore refers to the straightforward setup of the turntable and tonearm. Effortlessly Up to Speed
The lightweight, highly rigid chassis features an open-frame design. Rega uses a laminated construction with a black MDF core. With the cover attached, the Replay measures 41.5 × 32 × 11.5 centimeters (W × D × H) and weighs 2.2 kilograms. The redesigned foot system is intended to improve stability and reduce the transmission of vibrations.
A 24-volt synchronous motor provides the drive. Its power is transmitted to the phenolic resin platter via Rega’s EBLT drive belt. The 23-millimeter-thick platter is designed to contribute to speed stability through its flywheel mass. A matching platter mat is also included.
The Replay plays records at 33⅓ and 45 revolutions per minute. To change the speed, the belt is manually repositioned. A removable dust cover protects the platter and tone arm when the turntable is paused. rega.co.uk
