Yamaha is launching the True X Surround 90A, a new soundbar that complements the existing line-up as a top-of-the-range model. The focus here is on the combination of immersive 3D sound, wireless flexibility and simple setup. The soundbar will be available from the end of September 2025 as a complete package with subwoofer and surround speakers.
New loudspeaker concept for room-filling sound
At the heart of the new soundbar is a revised speaker arrangement. A total of 12 Beam speakers on the top create a three-dimensional sound field with the help of ceiling reflections. In addition, four specially shaped mid-range speakers and three tweeters are installed at the front to deliver a detailed sound image even with compact dimensions.
Support for three 3D audio formats
In addition to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, the True X Surround 90A also supports Auro-3D – for the first time in a soundbar, according to Yamaha. Especially with music and concert content, the reproduction of the treble channels via Auro-3D should lead to a more realistic listening experience. Conventional stereo content can also be reproduced in three dimensions via the integrated upmixer.
Package solution with wireless subwoofer and surround speakers
The scope of delivery includes a new subwoofer with a symmetrical port design and two wireless True X surround speakers. Both components communicate wirelessly with the soundbar and only require a power supply. Matching charging cradles are included in the package for the surround speakers, which can also be used as a charging station for use as Bluetooth speakers if required.
SURROUND:AI adjusts sound automatically
The intelligent sound optimization SURROUND:AI, known from Yamaha’s AV receivers, is being used in a soundbar for the first time. It analyzes the acoustic elements of the content being played back in real time and dynamically adjusts the sound profile – for example for dialogue, music or action sequences.
Multiroom connection via MusicCast
The soundbar is compatible with Yamaha’s MusicCast system and can therefore be integrated into a wireless multi-room audio network. In addition to MusicCast, Apple AirPlay and Bluetooth are also supported. Connection to the TV is via HDMI with eARC, and there is also an optical input.
Design and processing
Visually, Yamaha has opted for a simple, flat design that blends unobtrusively into different living environments. The housing is made of metal and the cover is acoustically optimized. As an alternative to placement on furniture, wall mounting is also possible.
Price and availability
The Yamaha True X Surround 90A will be available in stores from the end of September 2025. The recommended retail price for the complete package with soundbar, subwoofer and two surround speakers is €2,499.
