The second generation of the Teufel Ultima 25 Active combines classic stereo speakers with a built-in power amplifier, HDMI ARC, a USB-C sound card, and Bluetooth. This all-in-one system, priced at 549.99 euros, even includes a DAB+/FM radio.
If you want to improve your TV’s sound, you don’t necessarily have to opt for a soundbar. With the new Ultima 25 Aktiv 2, Teufel is introducing a pair of active stereo speakers to the market that, with their redesigned enclosure, fit right into the current Ultima family. Thanks to built-in amplifier technology, this plug-and-play system requires neither a separate stereo amplifier nor an AV receiver.
HDMI ARC and USB-C Instead of an External Amplifier
The power amplifier housed in the main speaker delivers 50 watts RMS per channel and supports Dolby Digital. The Ultima 25 Aktiv 2 can be connected directly to the TV via HDMI ARC. HDMI CEC allows you to control the volume using the TV remote. As soon as a signal is received, the speakers automatically turn on from standby.
Additional devices can be connected via a digital optical input or the analog AUX input. For use with a computer, Teufel has also included a USB-C sound card. This makes the active stereo system ideal not only for music and TV audio, but also for gaming and working from home.
For wireless music streaming, Teufel uses Bluetooth 5.0 with support for Qualcomm aptX and AAC. A built-in tuner also receives DAB+ digital radio and FM. Frequently listened-to stations can be saved to station buttons.
Kevlar driver with phase plug
Acoustically, the Ultima 25 Aktiv 2 operates as a two-way bass-reflex system. The woven Kevlar cone features a phase plug in the center, designed to reduce phase shifts. A 25-millimeter tweeter is housed in a waveguide designed to support precise localization and spatial imaging.
Teufel’s Dynamore Virtual Center is available for movies and TV shows. The signal processing generates a virtual center channel, which is designed to improve speech intelligibility in particular. According to the manufacturer, the system is tuned for dynamic, neutral sound reproduction for music, movies, and games.
Can be upgraded to a surround sound system
If desired, a subwoofer can be added wirelessly to the pair of speakers and, according to Teufel, the system can even be expanded into a surround sound system. Built-in M6 threads allow for mounting on compatible stands or wall brackets.
You can control the system using the touch sliders on the top of the main speaker, the included remote control, or—when connected via HDMI—through the TV. A dimmable OLED display shows the selected source, volume, and the radio station currently tuned in.
The redesigned enclosure is made of FSC-certified wood and is available in Night Black and Pure White. Teufel is now offering the Ultima 25 Aktiv 2 for 549.99 euros per pair in its online store, at its retail locations, and as part of various bundles.
