As the latest version of its proven and popular mobile headphone DAC, the renowned Japanese manufacturer presents a significant upgrade in terms of sound quality: the Stax SRM-D10 II. By using new hardware decoding technologies in the digital section and higher quality audio capacitors for the output stage, this model sets new standards. Support for high-resolution audio formats is guaranteed, as the SRM-D10 II can easily handle DSD sample rates up to DSD256 as well as PCM sample rates up to 384kHz/32bit.

One of the outstanding innovations is the high-quality power amplifier of the Stax SRM-D10 II, which is known for its impressive performance and power. This is complemented by a robust DC bias voltage of 580 V, which increases the output power of the amplifier and is intended to provide a dynamic, powerful sound.

Chic and solid

The Stax SRM-D10 II impresses not only technically, but also visually with its robust aluminum alloy housing. The elegant, modern design not only offers greater strength and corrosion resistance, but also guarantees a long service life for the appliance.

The versatile connection options, including digital USB and analog 3.5 mm audio inputs, ensure flexibility when connecting to various devices. Specially designed to complement all STAX PRO over-ears, the Stax SRM-D10 II allows users to realize the full potential of their headphones.

Last but not least, the mobility of the Stax SRM-D10 II is guaranteed thanks to a battery life of approx. 4.5 hours with analog input or 3.5 hours with digital input, so that music lovers don’t have to do without excellent sound on the go. The Stax SRM-D10 II is now available for 1,000 euros.

Stax SRM-D10 II vs Stax SRM-D10

Let’s take a closer look at the key innovations that set the D10 II apart from its predecessor and put it in a class of its own:

  1. Update of the decoder chip: A significant improvement in the D10 II is the use of the AKM 4493 decoder chip, a significant upgrade over the earlier ESS 9018. This change promises even more precise sound reproduction.
  2. Native DSD support: Another new feature is the native support of DSD via the USB input of the D10 II, which enables a direct path for DSD audio streams. For Mac iOS systems, however, DOP output remains standard due to system restrictions.
  3. Extended PCM support: The D10 II extends its technical specifications to include PCM support at the USB output for 384kHz/32bit – a significant improvement on the 192kHz/24bit of its predecessor. This allows users to enjoy high-resolution audio content with even greater clarity.
  4. Component upgrade: In the D10 II, numerous components, including resistors and capacitors, which have a significant influence on sound quality, have been replaced by high-quality Samsung components. In addition, the tubes and capacitors have been optimized, resulting in a more refined and immersive sound experience.
  5. Sound clarity and openness: A central concern in the development of the D10 II was to tackle the problem of sound clouding that had become noticeable over time in the previous model. The result is a clearer, more open sound character with fine adjustments for a consistently lively sound reproduction.
  6. Longer battery life: Thanks to a battery life of around 4.5 hours with analog input and 3.5 hours with digital input, the SRM D10 II is also ideally equipped for extended listening sessions on the go.
