Sony is expanding its audio portfolio with the new IER-M500, a professional in-ear monitor designed specifically for musicians and for use on stage. The focus is on high passive noise isolation, a secure fit, and precise sound reproduction, so that artists can rely on their monitor mix even in loud live environments.
According to Sony, the IER-M500 was developed in collaboration with experienced monitoring engineers. A sealed design, combined with a large acoustic chamber, is intended to effectively block out ambient noise while ensuring controlled bass and detailed reproduction of high frequencies. The frequency range extends from 10 Hz to 40 kHz, enabling the in-ear monitor to support high-resolution audio formats as well.

Sony paid special attention to comfort. The IER-M500 features specially designed fit supports, noise-isolating polyurethane ear tips in four sizes, and flexible ear hooks and clips for a secure fit. This is intended to ensure that the in-ear monitor remains comfortable even during longer performances or rehearsals.
The IER-M500 is also designed to withstand the rigors of daily life on stage. Sweat, rain, and splashes of water won’t damage these in-ear monitors. The 1.6-meter-long, detachable cable is designed for frequent use on stage or in the studio. The model is available in clear, black, and red/blue, with the latter making it easier to distinguish between the left and right earbuds.
Sony is also setting the standard when it comes to sustainability. According to the manufacturer, 35 percent of the plastic used is made from recycled material, in order to reduce the use of new fossil-based plastics.
