With the N8iii, Cayin introduces a new reference-class Digital Audio Player (DAP). The model, limited to 1,000 units, combines tube technology, fully balanced signal processing, and modern streaming functions. This makes the Cayin N8iii suitable for demanding headphone users as well as HiFi enthusiasts looking for a mobile high-end source.
Reference DAP with Tube Technology and Fully Balanced Design
The Cayin N8iii is designed as a versatile high-end source that can be used both mobile and stationary. In addition to its classic use as a portable Hi-Res player, the device can also be integrated into existing systems as a DAC, preamplifier, or network streamer.
The architecture is consistently designed for maximum signal quality, combining modern digital technology with classic tube amplification.
DAC Architecture with AKM Flagship Chips
Inside, Cayin relies on an elaborate DAC solution with separate chips for delta-sigma modulation and D/A conversion. One AK4191EQ is used per channel, while two AK4499EXEQs handle the actual conversion.
This fully balanced architecture with current difference output stage is designed to enable particularly precise and low-distortion signal processing. The concept is complemented by separate volume control with MUSE controllers, allowing fine adjustment in 256 steps.

Dual Tube and Variable Sound Signatures
A central feature of the Cayin N8iii is its dual tube configuration with Nutube-6P1 dual triodes. These are selected and matched in pairs to ensure consistent amplification of both channels.
Users can choose between different sound signatures: classic tube sound, a modern-tuned variant with reduced distortion, or pure transistor operation. Additionally, different amplifier modes such as Class A, AB, and A+ are available, allowing for precise sound customization.
Powerful Headphone Amplifier for Demanding Headphones
The integrated headphone amplifier delivers up to 1285 mW in balanced operation, making it suitable for power-hungry headphones. In unbalanced operation, up to 900 mW are available.
The Cayin N8iii offers both a 3.5 mm jack and a 4.4 mm Pentaconn output.
Streaming, DAC, and Preamplifier in One Device
In addition to mobile use, the N8iii impresses with its versatility. It supports high-resolution formats up to PCM 768 kHz / 32 Bit and DSD512, and can be used as a DAC or preamplifier with a controllable output.
The Android-based operating system with Direct Transport Audio technology ensures the most unadulterated signal processing possible, while also enabling the integration of streaming services and software updates.
Features, Display, and Storage
Further features include a 6-inch Full HD touchscreen display, 256 GB of internal storage, and Wi-Fi for streaming and updates. Storage can be expanded via card.
The integrated battery allows for a runtime of up to 12 hours, making the Cayin N8iii suitable for mobile use.
Price and Availability of the Cayin N8iii
The Cayin N8iii will be available in limited quantities from the end of April 2026. The recommended retail price is 4,280 Euros.
