Sonoro Completes Its Signature Line: New PLATINUM Signature and ORCHESTRA Slim Signature

Fink for Future

Sonoro continues to expand its ambitious Signature Line. In the fourth quarter of 2026, the PLATINUM Signature —a turntable designed entirely around analog technology—and the ORCHESTRA Slim Signature —a compact two-way speaker—will be launched. Both new products were developed in collaboration with renowned loudspeaker designer Karl-Heinz Fink and are priced at 1,199 euros each; for the loudspeaker, the price is per pair.

The Signature Line holds a special place at Sonoro. To develop it, the Neuss-based company brought on board two seasoned veterans of the German hi-fi scene: Karl-Heinz Fink and Rainer Finck. Karl-Heinz Fink, in particular, has left a significant technical mark on the two models just announced.

PLATINUM Signature: Sonoro Embraces Analog Purism

With the new PLATINUM Signature, Sonoro has deliberately omitted the convenience features that are becoming increasingly common in modern turntables. It has no automatic functions, Bluetooth, or other digital extras. Instead, the belt-driven turntable focuses entirely on providing the cleanest possible mechanical playback of the record.

The newly designed, two-layer MDF chassis plays a key role in this. Sonoro relies on Constrained Layer Damping, a technique in which different layers of material are bonded together to reduce unwanted resonances. The resulting vibration energy is intended to be damped as effectively as possible before it reaches the tonearm and cartridge.

Sonoro has also made improvements to numerous smaller details. The internal tonearm cable has a capacitance of less than 100 pF. In addition, there is a specially developed rubber-felt mat whose felt side fits exactly into a recess in the turntable platter. The platter bearing is made of Delrin.

Electronically Controlled Belt Drive

The motor control system is also interesting. Although the PLATINUM Signature is designed to be a deliberately minimalist analog turntable, a sensor constantly monitors the rotational speed. The electronics can detect deviations and continuously adjust the motor speed accordingly.

Sonoro thus combines a classic belt drive with electronic speed control. After all, especially for a turntable in this price range, maintaining as constant a rotational speed as possible is one of the basic requirements for low speed variations and stable pitch.

The extra-thick platter is made of cast aluminum, and its high mass is designed to further contribute to smooth operation.

New J-Tone Arm with Height Adjustment

One of the most notable changes compared to previous PLATINUM models concerns the tonearm. Sonoro uses a statically balanced J-shaped tonearm that is internally damped and runs on low-friction precision bearings.

One notable new feature is the ability to adjust the height. This makes it easier to adapt the tonearm geometry to different cartridges or mounting heights.

The headshell is interchangeable via a bayonet lock. Sonoro ships the PLATINUM Signature with an Ortofon 2M Red pre-installed. This well-known MM cartridge features an elliptically cut diamond and can be replaced relatively easily should you wish to upgrade it later.

Gold-plated RCA jacks are provided for connecting to the phono preamplifier. A matching RCA cable is included.

ORCHESTRA Slim Signature: Big Hi-Fi Sound in a Small Space

The second new model is designed for music lovers who don’t have room for full-size floor-standing speakers or large compact speakers. The ORCHESTRA Slim Signature is a slim two-way bass-reflex speaker that is just 18 centimeters wide and just under 33 centimeters tall.

Despite its compact dimensions, it is designed to deliver a rich, full-bodied sound, particularly in small and medium-sized rooms. It’s worth noting that Sonoro explicitly recommends placing the ORCHESTRA Slim Signature close to a wall. While many bass-reflex speakers require some distance from the back wall, the ORCHESTRA Slim Signature is designed to perform well even in tight spaces.

According to Sonoro, its sound is modeled after the larger ORCHESTRA Shaped Signature.

Elaborate sandwich-style housing to prevent resonance

The enclosure design also plays an important role in speakers. Sonoro once again employs the principle of constrained-layer damping, but takes the material mix a step further.

The baffle consists of two layers of HDF, while two layers of MDF are used for each of the other cabinet sides. A special permanently elastic adhesive is applied between the layers. This composite is designed not only to dampen cabinet resonances but also to convert some of the vibrational energy into heat.

The chassis are flush with the front panel and require no visible screws. Rounded edges and aluminum accents are also designed to reduce unwanted diffraction effects while giving the speaker its signature Sonoro look.

AMT tweeter and bamboo-paper diaphragm

For the high-frequency range, Sonoro uses an Air Motion Transformer (AMT). The tweeter is mounted slightly offset within the baffle and features a newly designed front plate, which Sonoro hopes will optimize the sound dispersion.

The slightly rear-tilted baffle isn’t just for looks, either. Together with the positioning of the drivers and the carefully tuned crossover, it is designed to improve the drivers’ timing. Sonoro promises that this will result in more precise sound localization, a wide soundstage, and clearly focused vocal reproduction.

The low-midrange driver uses a Kevlar-reinforced paper-bamboo composite and a powerful neodymium magnet. A flow-optimized bass reflex port provides additional depth.

With this combination, Sonoro aims to bring the sound characteristics of the larger ORCHESTRA Shaped Signature to a significantly more compact enclosure.

Two new Signature products for the same price

Interestingly, Sonoro is charging exactly the same price for both new models. The PLATINUM Signature costs 1,199 euros, and the ORCHESTRA Slim Signature costs 1,199 euros per pair.

Both models are scheduled to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2026. Each will be available in two color combinations: matte white with silver details and matte black with black accents.
