With the FG3, FiiO is entering the gaming headset market for the first time. Instead of relying on typical gaming technology, the Chinese hi-fi specialist is focusing on concepts previously associated mainly with high-end headphones. These include a coaxial two-way driver system, an integrated DSP with its own DAC, and virtual 7.1 surround sound technology. Despite these features, the new over-ear headset is expected to cost just 69.99 euros, according to the MSRP.
Hi-Fi technology instead of traditional gaming drivers
While most gaming headsets rely on a single full-range driver, FiiO has equipped the FG3 with a coaxial two-way system. It combines a 50-millimeter woofer with a 16-millimeter tweeter, both arranged on a common axis.
The large driver handles the low and midrange frequencies, while the smaller tweeter is responsible exclusively for the high frequencies. An electronic crossover distributes the signals to both drivers. This design is intended to reduce phase errors, improve soundstage imaging, and simultaneously extend the frequency range to 10 Hz to 40 kHz.
Integrated DSP with DAC and headphone amplifier
At the heart of the FG3 is a powerful dual-core DSP that processes all audio signals in real time. It is complemented by an integrated D/A converter supporting 24-bit and 192 kHz, as well as a headphone amplifier with an output power of up to 80 milliwatts.
FiiO promises that this will result in exceptionally precise reproduction of speech, ambient sounds, and dynamic game effects, all while maintaining low latency.
Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound for Games and Movies
For a more immersive gaming experience, the FG3 features a specially tuned virtual 7.1 surround sound mode. You can choose between a Cinema mode for movies and an Action mode, which is designed to help you pinpoint the location of enemies more accurately, especially in shooters and action games.
According to FiiO, the virtual surround sound processing creates a 360-degree soundstage and enhances both spatial perception and immersion in games and movies.

Microphone with noise cancellation
For voice communication, FiiO uses a detachable microphone with Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC). This is designed to effectively suppress background noise such as keyboard keystrokes or mouse clicks.
In addition, the headset supports hardware sidetone, allowing users to hear their own voice through the headphones with virtually no delay. The volume for this feature can be easily adjusted via the browser-based FiiO Control interface.
A browser-based equalizer instead of software
One unique feature of the FG3 is its configuration. Instead of traditional Windows software, FiiO uses a browser-based control system. Through FiiO Control WEB, users can configure a 10-band equalizer, save sound profiles, and store them directly in the headset.
This ensures that the settings are retained regardless of which computer is used.
For PC, console, and smartphone
The FG3 works without requiring driver installation and is compatible with Windows 7 through Windows 11, as well as smartphones and laptops. Thanks to support for USB Audio Class 1.0 and 2.0, the headset can also be used directly with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Breathable mesh ear cushions with memory foam, a foldable design, and a stainless steel headband all contribute to comfort. Controls for volume, microphone mute, and sound mode selection are located directly on the cable.
Price and availability
The FiiO FG3 is now available. The suggested retail price is 69.99 euros.

STEREO GUIDE says
Gaming headsets often prioritize sound effects over the most natural sound reproduction possible. With the FG3, FiiO takes a different approach, incorporating proven hi-fi technology into a gaming product. In particular, the coaxial two-way system, the integrated DSP, and the browser-based equalizer set this headset apart from many of its competitors. For just under 70 euros, the overall package sounds incredibly appealing—not only for gamers, but also for users looking for a versatile headset for music, movies, and games.
