With the new WiiM Bar, WiiM enters the soundbar market for the first time. The streaming specialists combine their established multiroom platform with Dolby Atmos, an integrated color touchscreen and extensive expansion options. Priced at €499, the soundbar aims to appeal not only to home cinema fans but also to music lovers.
First soundbar from WiiM
Until now, WiiM was primarily known for its streaming players, amplifiers and multiroom solutions. With the WiiM Bar, the company is now expanding its portfolio to include a living room-friendly soundbar designed to combine TV audio, music streaming and smart home functions in a single device.
Visually, WiiM stays true to form: the housing is relatively compact and features a round color display already familiar from other WiiM products. What’s new, however, is the integration into a soundbar with Dolby Atmos support.
Dolby Atmos with dedicated height channels
Inside, the WiiM Bar operates as a 3.0.2 system. In addition to front channels, the soundbar features dedicated height drivers designed to deliver more spatial reproduction of Dolby Atmos content. Supported via HDMI eARC are Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS and DTS:X, among others.
A total of eight active driver units handle playback. Three tweeters fire forward, while five mid-bass drivers and four passive radiators handle the mid and low-frequency range.

Expandable to 5.1.2 home cinema
Particularly interesting is the option to expand the WiiM Bar into a complete surround system later on. Compatible WiiM components can be wirelessly integrated as rear speakers or subwoofers. This allows the soundbar to be expanded from a 3.0.2 solution to a complete 5.1.2 system.
WiiM is taking a similar approach to some established soundbar manufacturers, but integrates the expansions directly into its existing multiroom ecosystem.

Multiroom hub for music streaming
Like all current WiiM products, the new soundbar integrates fully into the WiiM Home app. There you can manage streaming services, group speakers and adjust individual sound settings.
More than 20 streaming services and platforms are supported, including Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Amazon Music Cast, Qobuz Connect, Google Cast, Roon and UPnP.
Connectivity is also unusually generous for a soundbar. In addition to HDMI eARC, there’s an optical input, analog RCA jacks, USB-C and Bluetooth 5.3.
Touchscreen, voice control and RoomFit
A distinctive feature of the WiiM Bar is the round 2.1-inch color display on the front. During music playback, it shows album artwork or streaming information. In standby mode, it transforms into a customizable clock.
The soundbar also features touch-sensitive controls on the top that activate automatically when approached. Control options include the WiiM Home app, voice control, the included remote and the TV remote via HDMI eARC.
For optimal adaptation to the listening room, WiiM also integrates automatic RoomFit room correction. An AI-based dialogue enhancement (“Clear Voice”) is designed to make voices more intelligible, while a night mode reduces loud effects.
