When it comes to deep bass, Teufel gives you a choice: The new Teufel T 10 Mk2 can be configured to point its 250-mm driver either forward or downward. The second generation of this active subwoofer is designed to deliver more precise sound, reach slightly lower frequencies, and connect wirelessly to numerous Teufel components.
Two Hertz Closer to the Abyss
The Teufel T 10 Mk2 features an extremely long-throw woofer with a 25-centimeter diameter paired with a 150-watt Class-D amplifier. The Berlin-based manufacturer specifies the lower cutoff frequency as 31 Hz at -3 dB. This means the new model extends at least two hertz lower into the bass range than the previous Teufel T 10, which, according to the spec sheet, reaches down to 33 Hz.
In its basic design, however, the concept remains true to itself: Its predecessor already combined a 250-mm woofer with a 150-watt Class D amplifier and could be used as either a front-firing or down-firing subwoofer. The Mk2 thus represents a gradual evolution rather than a bass-heavy earthquake. It remains to be seen whether the promised higher precision can be verified in a listening test.

Front-fire or Down-fire
Thanks to its adjustable rubber feet, the T 10 Mk2 can be positioned so that its woofer radiates sound either directly into the room or downward toward the floor. This allows the owner to adapt the subwoofer’s performance to its intended location and the room’s acoustics.
Teufel also promises optimized cabinet proportions, which should make it easier to place the subwoofer next to or under a lowboard. However, the latest press release does not yet include specific details on dimensions and weight.
An adjustable low-pass filter, a phase switch, and a volume control are available for adjusting the subwoofer to the main speakers and the listening room. An automatic power-on feature wakes the active subwoofer from standby when a signal is detected.
Bass via wireless—power still via cable
The built-in wireless module receives the bass signal wirelessly from compatible Teufel components. These include various models from the Cinebar 11, 22, One, Lux, Pro, Ultima, Duett, and Trios series, as well as the Ultima 25 Active, the Impaq 8000, and the CoreStation.
The T 10 Mk2 can be connected to AV or stereo receivers in the traditional way via its RCA input. For a wireless connection to devices from other manufacturers, Teufel offers an optional wireless subwoofer transmitter. Naturally, the active subwoofer isn’t completely wireless: it’s powered by a detachable, 1.5-meter-long power cord.
The enclosure is made of FSC-certified wood. The Teufel T 10 Mk2 is now available in black or white for 419.99 euros in the Teufel online store and at Teufel stores. The subwoofer will also be offered as part of various speaker and home theater bundles.
