The high-end universal players MAGNETAR UDP800MKII and MAGNETAR UDP900MKII now officially support ROON READY. This was announced by Audio Reference, the exclusive MAGNETAR distributor for Central Europe.
This significantly expands the capabilities of these already extremely versatile universal players beyond classic disc playback. In addition to Blu-ray, DVD, CD, and SACD, both devices can now be integrated into high-quality stereo HiFi systems as full-fledged network streamers.
Universal player for almost all disc formats
The two MKII models from MAGNETAR are already considered particularly versatile high-end players for physical media. Supported formats include:
- Blu-ray
- DVD
- CD
- SACD
- other optical media
Furthermore, the players can already play media from the home network as well as content from storage devices connected via USB, such as SSDs, USB sticks, or hard drives.
With the new ROON READY certification, full online music streaming is now added for the first time.
Roon integrates TIDAL, Qobuz, and local music libraries
Thanks to ROON READY support, the players can be integrated directly into the Roon ecosystem. This gives users access to streaming services like Qobuz or TIDAL while allowing them to conveniently manage local music libraries at the same time.
This should be particularly interesting for users of high-quality stereo systems. The MAGNETAR players can now be used not only as disc players but also as central HiFi streamers connected to preamplifiers and power amplifiers.
Free firmware update available
For owners of a MAGNETAR UDP800MKII or MAGNETAR UDP900MKII, the new function is available immediately via a free firmware update. Installation is carried out directly via the familiar update function in the system menu.
With ROON integration, the two universal players open a new chapter, combining classic high-end disc playback with modern streaming functions in a single device.
