WORLD OF HEADPHONES is repositioning itself. The trade show specializing in headphones, portable players, DACs, and personal audio will no longer be held as a standalone event in Heidelberg and Essen. Instead, the HIGH END SOCIETY will integrate the format into its two FINEST AUDIO SHOWs. The series kicks off in Darmstadt in October 2026, followed by Cologne in February 2027.
This is the organizer’s response to the restructuring of its trade show portfolio. With the new locations of the FINEST AUDIO SHOW in Darmstadt and Cologne, the respective events would be very close in both time and space to the previous WORLD-OF-HEADPHONES dates in Heidelberg and Essen. Rather than competing with each other for exhibitors and visitors, the formats will therefore be merged.
“WORLD OF HEADPHONES” will remain as a separate section
However, this does not mean the end of WORLD OF HEADPHONES. The name and concept will live on within the FINEST AUDIO SHOW as a clearly defined themed and experiential area.
As before, visitors can try out and compare the latest headphones, portable audio players, headphone amplifiers, DACs, streaming solutions, and accessories there. Especially when it comes to headphones, the opportunity to test them out in person is particularly important—after all, it’s nearly impossible to assess differences in sound quality and comfort based on spec sheets alone.
WORLD OF HEADPHONES will have its own dedicated area at both the darmstadtium in Darmstadt and the Confex at Koelnmesse.
Organizer Aims to Bring Together Different Hi-Fi Worlds
Through this integration, however, the HIGH END SOCIETY also aims to bring together visitor groups that have, to some extent, been separate up to now. The FINEST AUDIO SHOW covers classic hi-fi and high-end components as well as streaming, smart audio, and, increasingly, personal audio.
For manufacturers of headphones and mobile audio equipment, this means potential access to a larger audience. Conversely, visitors to a traditional hi-fi trade show can easily explore the latest headphones, DACs, and mobile players.
“Over the past few years, WORLD OF HEADPHONES has become a fixture in the audio industry and built a dedicated community,” explains Manuel Pinke, Managing Director of HIGH END SOCIETY Service GmbH. The goal of the integration is to combine the strengths of both formats, tap into additional visitor potential, and at the same time offer a more diverse audio experience.
No more standalone WORLD OF HEADPHONES stores in Heidelberg and Essen
For regular visitors, the reorientation primarily means a change of venue. The previously independent events WORLD OF HEADPHONES Heidelberg and WORLD OF HEADPHONES Essen will no longer take place in their current form.
The respective thematic sections within the FINEST AUDIO SHOW will take over in Darmstadt and Cologne. In this way, the organizer is focusing its activities on fewer dates and larger events.
The first opportunity to experience the new trade show concept will be this fall: The The FINEST AUDIO SHOW Darmstadt will take place on October 17 and 18, 2026, at the darmstadtium .
The premiere of the FINEST AUDIO SHOW Cologne will take place on February 27 and 28, 2027, at Confex on the Koelnmesse grounds .
