Under the motto “Cinema is Coming Home,” Sony is significantly expanding its home cinema portfolio. At the heart are new components of the BRAVIA Theatre series, including the Bar 7 and Bar 5 soundbars, as well as matching subwoofers and rear speakers for a flexible, expandable surround setup.
New soundbars with 3D audio
The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7 is designed as a powerful all-in-one solution and works with a total of nine speaker units. Upward and side-firing drivers are intended to create a spatial sound field, which is further expanded by Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Mapping. The goal is an immersive surround experience even without additional speakers.
Positioned below this, Sony offers the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 5 as a 3.1-channel system with a wireless subwoofer. Technologies such as S-Force Pro Front Surround and Vertical Surround Engine are also intended to enable three-dimensional sound reproduction, albeit with less hardware complexity.
Both soundbars support modern audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X and can be controlled directly via the TV menu when used with compatible BRAVIA TVs. Improved voice reproduction is also intended to increase dialogue clarity.

Expandable surround system
For a full-fledged home cinema setup, Sony offers additional speakers. The BRAVIA Theatre Sub 9 and Sub 8 subwoofers expand the system with powerful low-frequency reproduction. While the Sub 9 is designed with two counter-acting drivers for particularly deep and low-distortion bass, the more compact Sub 8 relies on a single driver.
In addition, the Rear 9 speakers provide an expanded surround backdrop. They create additional virtual sound sources and thus contribute to a more realistic spatial representation. For the first time, Sony also supports operation with two subwoofers for an even more homogeneous bass foundation.
Easy control and integration
The new BRAVIA Theatre components can be configured and controlled via the BRAVIA Connect app. In addition to volume and sound profiles, advanced settings are also available. The setup is intentionally kept simple to make it easier to get started with more complex home cinema configurations.
Availability
The new home cinema components—including BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7, Bar 5, as well as subwoofers and rear speakers—will be available for pre-order starting March 25, 2026. Prices were not yet mentioned at the time of the announcement.
