Recently, an app update for the Dyson OnTrac was announced via the email address provided for using the MyDyson app on an Apple or Android device. How convenient that we kept the OnTrac as a comparison headset for the time being after the review. So I was able to install the new app on the iPhone and try out what the update would bring? The improvements relate to three points: There is an individually adjustable equalizer, an adjustment for ANC (Active Noise-Cancelling) and a source selection function.
New 5-band EQ

In addition to the sound presets “Optimized”, “Bass Boost” and “Neutral”, there is now also a graphic 5-band equalizer under “User-defined” for targeted sound control in five frequency ranges.
ANC adjustment improved

The effect of the ANC can now be adjusted to the ambient conditions in two stages: In addition to “Full Isolation”, there is “Less Isolation” with reduced noise attenuation. At the highest level, I could hardly hear anything of the radio playing in the same room when playback was paused. In the softened position, you could hear all the music, just a little quieter. However, in many cases, this should be enough to avoid interference from faint ambient noise when listening to music via the Dyson OnTrac at the same time. Those who want to be aware of their surroundings without taking off their headphones will benefit from the new transparency modes.
Convenient source selection in the MyDyson app

The new source selection is practical if you want to use your Dyson OnTrac with different sound sources via Bluetooth. You can then easily switch between different playback devices in the new “Audio source” menu. And during operation, the main menu always shows which program source you are currently connected to.
Conclusion on the update for the Dyson OnTrac
The free software update for the MyDyson app for Android and Apple iOS brings three new, useful functions that make the Dyson OnTrac even better for everyday use.
