Here is the detailed magazine news in our tried and tested format, with joAt the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich, Arkamys and Beyerdynamic are giving a first insight into the future of automotive entertainment. The global provider of automotive audio software and the German audio specialist with over 100 years of experience have developed a joint in-car sound system, which will be demonstrated in a show car for the first time. Visitors can experience the demo between September 9 and 12 in Hall A2 (Stand B30).
High-end audio meets automotive software
While Arkamys has stood for tailor-made software solutions for sound optimization in vehicles for years, Beyerdynamic is bringing its iconic sound signature into play, which until now has been known primarily from headphones, microphones and studio equipment. The partnership is intended to enable spatially dense, detailed sound in the car – regardless of vehicle type or loudspeaker configuration.
The system does not rely on a completely new hardware setup, but uses the existing infrastructure of a vehicle: head unit, amplifier and loudspeakers. The acoustics are optimally tuned to the interior using a central architecture and real-time adjustments.
Three sound profiles for different needs
The trade fair demo offers three selectable sound modes:
- Studio mode for neutral, precise reproduction.
- Podcast mode with strong voice focus.
- Live mode, which is designed to create an immersive sense of space and is customizable.
Parameters such as bass intensity or the ratio of immersion and precision can be adjusted in real time – an indication that Arkamys and Beyerdynamic value flexibility and user control.
Beyerdynamic breaks new ground
For Beyerdynamic, the collaboration with Arkamys is a new step towards the automotive industry. Since it was founded in 1924, the long-established company from Heilbronn has repeatedly opened up new areas of business – from studio technology and gaming to high-end headphones such as the luxury in-ear Xelento Wireless 2, which tops the corresponding STEREO GUIDE headphones ranking list. Now the unmistakable sound signature is also to be experienced in the car.
“The collaboration with Arkamys gives us the opportunity to transfer our expertise to the automotive context for the first time,” says Andreas Rapp, Managing Director of Beyerdynamic. “For us, this is an exciting step into a new field – and a glimpse of how the in-car experience could develop in the future.”
Arkamys also sees great potential in the cooperation. “We share a passion for sound and the vision of creating experiences that inspire people. The IAA is just the beginning,” says Alexis Charbonnel, Deputy Managing Director of Arkamys.
Availability and trade fair appearance
The concept remains a showpiece for the time being: no series production plans have been announced. If the Heilbronn-based company gets serious, it would be the next headphone specialist to hit the road after Sennheiser in the Morgan and Cupra vehicles. However, visitors can test the prototype system for themselves in the show car at the Arkamys stand and talk to the development teams.
